Area Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Cars, walls and postboxes were defaced, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.
Police state they were notified late on Wednesday, when a resident discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.
The substance had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Police then discovered numerous other smeared vehicles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement say preliminary tests indicate the fluid was probably human blood.
"There is still no lead as to where it came from; investigators are presently not aware of any harm in association with the event," they stated.
Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to solve the mystery" and have asked to the residents for tips.
An important official commented the incident left him speechless and had to be solved quickly.
"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the extremist terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on online, recalling the killing of nine people by a gunman focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
