The second-hand marketplace Members Express Displeasure Regarding Sizing Changes
Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.
The popular resale platform has altered its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Social Media Reaction
Countless users and merchants are posting online claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.
It has advised users to examine their items and update the measurements by hand if necessary, which has left users frustrated.
Size Classification Updates
Earlier, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
A different member, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as size 20–22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she stated.
Necessary Adjustments
A different user, located in England, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: last year, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
